Sole Republican candidate Chris Stoddard on being singled out as candidate to beat in 53rd Congressional District

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – 16 candidates are running to win Congresswoman Susan Davis’s soon to be vacant seat representing the 53rd Congressional District.

But according to a new Sara Jacobs ad, the race is just between her and Republican Chris Stoddard. The Jacobs ad does not ever mention fellow Democrat candidate, San Diego City Council President Georgette Gomez, who is tied with three other candidates at 5-percent, according to the San Diego Union Tribune poll she uses in the ad.

The SDUT poll says 35-percent of respondents are still undecided.

Republican candidate Chris Stoddard, joined us in studio to respond to Jacobs ad, explain what he hopes to do for the 53rd Congressional District, and share some insight into his campaign. That interview can be seen at the top of the page.

Sara Jacobs television ad can be seen below.
