Some Vista homes evacuated after brush fire threatened structures

VISTA (KUSI) — Firefighters were battling a brush fire in a residential area of Vista Monday afternoon, including the evacuation of some houses, according to authorities.

The fire was reported at 4:15 p.m. in the 200 block of East Bobier Drive near North Santa Fe Avenue, according to a dispatcher for North County Fire.

Several homes were evacuated due to the threat of the fire and a senior live-in center ordered a shelter-in-place.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department had deputies staged at a few intersections in an effort to keep traffic away from the area, according to a sheriff’s department spokeswoman.

Most of the traffic control and evacuations were along Cananea Street, including where it intersects with North Santa Fe Avenue, Calera Street and North Citrus Avenue.

At least 13 units had responded to the fire within the first hour, according to the fire dispatcher.

There were no reports of injuries but one shed was burned in the blaze. The cause had not yet been determined.
