PREVIEW

The Week Two South Bay Game of the Week features Chula Vista hosting Hoover. While the Spartans were victorious in their season debut, the Cardinals weren’t so lucky in taking a 51-0 drubbing from Monte Vista.
Chula Vista hopes to improve on last year’s 1-9 record and with one victory thus far they are on the way to doing that.
Every returning Chula Vista starter plays both ways including Quarterback Paul Escobar who plays Linebacker on defense. Several Spartan linemen are expected to hold their own against anyone in the Metro South Bay League. They include big Sio Pongia who is six feet tall and weighs 265 pounds and big Joseph Espinoza who is also six feet tall and weighs 275 pounds.
Chula Vista’s game plan is to run the ball often and to keep turnovers at a minimum. Working toward that ground game strategy are running backs Gabriel McPherren and Sergio Figueroa.
Spartan Head Coach Daryl Butterfield is beginning his second year at the helm. Hoover Head Coach Jimmy Morgans meantime, is in his first year. He actually graduated from Hoover in 1992.
Be sure to catch all of the highlights of this game just after 10 pm as The South Bay Game of the Week is always the first live shot of the PPR.
Thanks for watching and see you on Friday!
