South Bay Game of the Week: Lincoln 48, Otay Ranch 25

The South Bay playoff Game of the Week (week 12) features the Otay Ranch Mustangs traveling to Lincoln to take on the Hornets. This match-up portends to be a good game as both teams are 5-5. But in the end the Hornets dominate 48-25.

Ace Hornet running back Donell Pleasant takes the opening kick-off 98 yards for a touchdown. Minutes later Dorsey Furlow runs it in for Otay and we’re tied at 7. Lincoln’s Michael Edwards scores on a nice run to give the Hornets the lead at the end of the first quarter.

It’s Edwards again at the start of the second quarter who scores his second touchdown of the game on a great run. Minutes later Lincoln’s Ty Shaun Whiting runs it in and the Hornets’ lead widens. End of the second, Donell Pleasant with a run up the gut for his second touchdown.

In the third quarter as Otay attempts to pass, the ball goes straight into the arms of Lincoln’s Daylon Dunn (the son of head coach David Dunn) who runs it in for a touchdown. Minutes later Donell Pleasant catches a pass for his third TD of the game.

The Hornets have a tough game as they will play 9-1 San Marcos.

Otay Ranch Head Coach Lance Christensen deserves real credit for taking his team to the playoffs in his first year!
