South Bay Game of the Week: Castle Park Trojans 36, Monte Vista Monarchs 0
The week 12 South Bay Playoff Game of the Week features Metro Pacific League champ Castle Park hosting Monte Vista. The Trojans come into this playoff game with a record of 6-4, while the Monarchs are 2-8. In the end Castle Park is the winner by a score of 36-0.
Castle Park’s quarterback, Angelo Trujillo, is about as versatile as they come…in fact you could call him ‘Mr. Punt, Pass and Kick and More.’ So far this season he has thrown 17 touchdown passes and has rushed for 6 touchdowns. He is the team’s punter, kicker and also plays defense!
In the Trojans’ first possession Trujillo throws his 18th touchdown pass of the year to Anthony Navarro.
A field goal by Arthur Zertuche makes it 9-0 Trojans.
In the second quarter Miguel Flores scampers nine yards into the end zone to make it 16-0 Castle Park. Minutes later Angelo Trujillo throws his second touchdown pass of the game when he finds Charles Tolbert.
Minutes later ditto….Trujillo to Tolbert to make it 29-0 Trojans.
In the third quarter Miguel Flores scores his second rushing touchdown to make it 36-0 Castle Park.
While Angelo Trujillo throws three touchdown passes and eclipses the 2,000 yard mark, it’s important to point out what a fine job the Trojan defense does in not allowing Monte Vista to score…a major accomplishment when you go up against a team coached by coaching legend Ron Hamamoto.
The Trojans have a tough game next week when they take on Bishops.

The week 12 South Bay Game of the Week features Metro Pacific League champ Castle Park hosting Monte Vista. The Trojans come into this playoff game with a record of 6-4, while the Monarchs are 2-8.
Castle Park’s quarterback, Angelo Trujillo, is about as versatile as they come…in fact you could call him ‘Mr. Punt, Pass and Kick and More.’ So far this season he has thrown 17 touchdown passes and has rushed for 6 touchdowns. He is the team’s punter and kicker…on kick-offs, field goals and PAT’s…and that’s just on offense! On defense the multi-talented Trujillo has 5 interceptions and has 10 solo tackles to his credit.
Luqman Barcoo leads the Trojans in touchdown receptions with 8. On defense Miguel Flores is the leading tackler with 54 solo tackles.
Castle Park’s Head Coach is indeed a rarity. Hans Graham grew up in the area of Castle Park. He played his high school for
the Trojans only to return as an assistant coach. Eventually he would ascend into the head coaching position. In addition to his coaching responsibilities Graham also heads up the school’s maintenance department.
And speaking of head coaches, Monte Vista’s Ron Hamamoto is a prep football coaching legend…so don’t let the team’s 2-8 record fool you!
