South Bay Game of the Week: Sweetwater 62, Hilltop 7

The Week 9 South Bay Game of the Week featured Hilltop hosting Sweetwater…a formidable task indeed considering the Red Devils are undefeated at 7-0. By the end of the game Sweetwater remains undefeated in a convincing 62-7 win.

It’s important to point out Hilltop comes into this game at a tremendous disadvantage having lost its star quarterback, Daniel Sanchez, to a torn ACL several weeks ago, and its back-up quarterback to a rib injury last week.

The Red Devils get on the board quickly in the first quarter with runs by CC Portillio and Jose Sandoval.

In the second quarter Raven ‘Big Man on Campus’ Middleton scores the first of his five rushing touchdowns. Bryton Madarang gets the Lancers on the board with a nice run into the end zone.

By the third quarter the game is on a running clock because of Sweetwater’s big lead.

The Red Devils have won sixteen games in a row when we you combine this season with last season. It’s important to note that Sweetwater actually holds the San Diego Section record for the most wins in a row, at 36…a winning streak that happened back in the 80’s…could history repeat itself?
