Southbound I-805 from I-5 to La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road will be closed Sunday
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Caltrans said Friday that the southbound I-805 from the I-5 to La Jolla Village Drive/Miramar Road will be closed Sunday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Construction crews are working on widening the bridge to accommodate new carpool lanes along the I-805. The closures could continue on Monday and Thursday nights, during the same evening hours.
Motorists will be detoured around the closure to southbound I-5, then eastbound on I-52 to northbound or southbound I-805.
According to Caltrans, the North Express Lanes Project will construct one carpool lane in each direction on the I-805 from just north of the I-52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard.
The project includes construction of a Direct Access Ramp to and from southbound I-805 at Carroll Canyon Road. Bridge widening and ramp modifications are additional improvements.
The construction cost for Stage 1 is about $86 million and is funded with state, federal and local sources, including the Proposition 1B State – Local Partnership Program and TransNet Extension funds.
