Southwest Airlines plane slides off runway during landing

BURBANK, Calif. (KUSI)- A Southwest Airlines plan slid off of a slippery runway today, almost leading to a dangerous crash. According to the FAA, FLight 278 landed at Burbank Airport from Oakland when it started to slide during heavy rain.

The airport’s engineered material arresting system is designed to stop an aircraft that goes odd the end of the runway and today it did its job.
