Southwest (EC) 35, Southwest (SD) 0

In week 3 the “Battle of Southwest” ends with the Southwest (El Centro) Eagles on top of the Southwest (San Diego) Raiders 35-0. We got there in time for the second half of the action as the Eagles led the game 14-0 at the half. This was all after the Eagles bus broke down on the way to the game in the Alpine area and the game was pushed back to a 7:45PM kickoff.

The second half action started with the Eagles receiving the ball the second half. After a couple of tough runs the Eagles Nigel Rabb grabbed in a 2 yard TD pass from QB Edward Romero, 21-0 Eagles . In the 3rd the Eagles continued their dominance as they took a play out of the trick book and went with a reverse from Nigel Rabb to Fernando Mercado for the 19 yard score, 28-0.

Later in the forth the Eagles lined up in I formation as they ran a 24 power play with who else but Mr. Rabb. Nigel Rabb took the handoff and bounced it outside for the 11 yard TD run, 35-0 Eagles. The Raiders ran the wild cat all night but had some success on the ground but not enough to punch it in as mistake kept them out of the end zone. The Raiders Moises Robles took the ball 25 yards down the sideline to what looked to be the Raiders first touchdown of the season but some dirty laundry was thrown out to and the holding call negated the fine running attempt by the frustrated Robles.

The Southwest Raiders get to stay home once again to face the Mt. Empire Red Hawks in hoping to win and score for the first time this season next week. As for the Southwest Eagles after two back to back long journeys to the US-Mexico border face off with the Div. V champion Holtville Vikings next week at home.
