Spree of traffic accidents ends with one arrest and two hospitalized
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drunk-driving after a spree of traffic accidents.
The 49-year-old suspect, Cosimo Ingrande, drove his white Ford F-250 into a freeway sign in the 7400 block of Broadway in Lemon Grove shortly before 7 a.m., sheriff's Sgt. Michelle McPhail said.
He then hit a light pole and a car once he reached College Avenue, then the pickup veered over a center median and collided with three other vehicles traveling to the south, the sergeant said.
The suspect continued to go the wrong way on College Avenue before veering back over the median and continuing to the north.
Once he hit Livingston Street, Ingrande turned to the east and immediately was involved in two more collisions, according to McPhail. Deputies responded to the numerous traffic accidents and were able to pull Ingrande over in that neighborhood.
A woman involved in one of the collisions was taken to a local hospital, along with Ingrande, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
