Spring Valley fire damages at least 12 apartment homes

SPRING VALLEY (KUSI) – Twelve units of a Spring Valley apartment complex sustained damage in a fire this morning, officials said.

The blaze at the Calavo Woods complex on Jamacha Boulevard was reported at 8:50 a.m.

Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from the first and second floor of one of the buildings, Battalion Chief Andy Lawler of the San Miguel Fire Department told OnScene TV.

The two apartments were badly damaged and 10 other units were more than slightly damaged. Residents were evacuated with the help of sheriff’s deputies.

Most of the fire was extinguished in 25 minutes, Lawler said.
