St. Augustine Saints 35, Bonita Vista Barons 0
The Saint Augustine Saints helped earn Coach Karmer’s first victory as the head coach by defeating the Bonita Vista Barons with a final score of 35-0. The Saint’s defense did a solid job at holding the Bonita Vista offense to 0 points forcing Bonita Vista’s head coach Sam Kirkland to wait until next week to hopefully earn his first victory as the new Baron’s head coach.
The Saint’s came out swinging as they opened the scoring with a 43 yard touchdown pass from their quarterback #14 Angelo Peraza to #45 Joseph Crawford making it 6-0 early in the game. Quarterback Angelo Perazo would end up throwing for 103 yards, completing 6 passes out of 11 attempts. The Saint’s field goal unit encountered a couple of road blocks as they missed two extra point attempts as well as a field goal attempt. The play of the game undoubtedly goes to Saint’s #16 Jalil Tucker as he returned an 85 yard blocked field goal attempt making the score 14-0 as the 2 point conversion was successful. The Saint Augustine Saints look to continue their good fortune as they will face the Santa Fe Christian Eagles next Friday night at Mesa College.
The Bonita Vista Baron’s football program looks to be on the rise however as new varsity head football coach Sam Kirkland looks to bring his high energy mentality to the program. Coach Kirkland looks to earn his first victory next Friday as the Barons take on the Madison Warhawks at Southwestern College.
Be sure to tune in every Friday night at 10:45pm to catch the 1st and 15 followed immediately by the world renown PPR at 11pm.
PREVIEW-The Bonita Vista Barons are feeling hopeful and optimistic as they find themselves under the new direction of head football coach, Sam Kirkland. The Barons had a difficult 2017 season that ended with a winless overall record of 0-11. The blue and gold faithful will be expecting a complete turnaround this season as they head into their first non-conference game to be played on Friday night at 7:00 pm at Southwestern College against the all holy, St. Augustine Saints, who finished with an overall record of 7-4.
Senior quarterback, Kevin Rozar, is looking to lead Bonita Vista in the right direction as stand out wide receiver, Ron Vann, looks to establish a strong relationship with Rozar in the end zone.
Also under a new regime, the St. Augustine Saints, will be led by first year head coach, Joe Kremer, not to be confused with the Seinfeld “Kramer.” Coach Kremer and staff have high expectations for sophomore running back, Byron Cardwell. Junior cornerback, Tyson Mcwilliams, looks to solidify the defense alongside senior linebacker, JT Penick.
This will definitely be considered the “Clash of the Coaches” as Kirkland and Kremer both look to establish dominance within their respected programs by earning an impressive opening win for the season.
