State officials propose release of sexually violent offender to East County

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – State officials are proposing to place another sexually violent offender in East County upon his release.

41-year-old Thomas Joseph Cornwell was convicted of committing lewd acts on two minors according to the County District Attorney’s office.

Doctors have diagnosed Cornwell with Pedophilic Disorder and officials are looking into placing him in Jacumba Hot Springs — similar to convicted felon Alvin Quarles just last month.

Residents and activists have recently complained that potentially dangerous predators continue to be released into East County.

In studio today to discuss is KUSI contributor and criminal defense attorney Vik Bajaj.
