Steele Canyon 41, Rancho Buena Vista 0
The Steele Canyon Cougars dominated both sides of the ball against Rancho Buena Vista as they defended their home turf and their undefeated record in a 41-0 win over the Longhorns.
Steele Canyon running back Riley Jones scored two first quarter touchdowns, one from 23 yards out and other 21 yards to give the Cougars a quick 14-0 lead.
Defensively, Steele Canyon refused to give the Longhorns anything, allowing less than 50 yards in the first half and constantly keeping the pressure on quarterback. For the Longhorns, they could not slow down the run or pass on defense, missing tackles and leaving receivers wide open.
The Cougars added to the lead in the second quarter on an 8-yard run to the pylon by Pierre Alexander, 20-0. On their next drive quarterback Dominick Wood-Anderson found Isiah Webb for a 33-yard strike on a beautiful double to move to make the score 27-0, at the half.
Wood-Anderson ran in a touchdown of his own in the third before sitting for the rest of night, and backup quarterback Joseph Califano hit receiver Derek Tyler for a 27- yard touchdown on a spectacular one-handed catch.
The Longhorns (1-3) will need to regroup quickly as they head home to face undefeated Oceanside next week. Meanwhile, Steele Canyon will stay at home for a big matchup against the (3-1) Otay Ranch Mustangs.
