Strange lights in San Diego skyline were military training exercise
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — Reports of mysterious lights over the San Diego coast turned out to be a military training exercise.
Numerous accounts of mysterious lights in the San Diego skyline were reported Wednesday evening.
The training exercise was conducted by Navy squadron VMGR-325 30 miles off the Pacific Ocean coast. They used the flairs seen in the sky to perform evasive maneuver training, according to Naval Base Coronado.
Calls made to KUSI from San Diego residents reported seeing a number of hovering lights over San Diego beaches.
Calls reporting the strange lights from as far as La Mesa, Del Mar and San Ysidro.
