Streets, neighborhoods flood following second day of heavy rains
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Early morning downpours left several San Diego County roadways flooded for commuters Thursday, authorities said.
The California Highway Patrol reported the following flooded roadways: state Route 163 south of Interstate 5, south of Balboa Avenue and south of Interstate 8; state Route 94 west of Euclid Avenue and east of Kenwood Drive; Interstate 805 at 47th Street, at state Route 54 and north of Imperial Avenue; state Route 54 at Highland Avenue; Interstate 5 north of Washington Street; and state Route 79 at Interstate 15.
The rain also flooded several city streets early Thursday, briefly trapping some motorists who attempted to drive through, police said. A neighborhood in Mission Hills also flooded, leaving several parked cars submerged.
Although several dozen accidents were reported around the county, most involved no injuries or only minor injuries.
