Student veterans center to open at MiraCosta College

OCEANSIDE (CNS) – Grand opening is scheduled Monday for a larger information center for student veterans at MiraCosta College.

The new center, in the T100 building, is bigger than the office that’s been in use over the past five years.

The military contingent at the community college in Oceanside has grown substantially in the past decade, from around 900 to the current figure of around 1,500 active-duty and veteran students. Another 800 or so of their family members also attend the school.

“This wonderful facility is an excellent addition to the campus and will assist a growing number of men and women who have served their country and who absolutely deserve our admiration and support,” said Richard Robertson, the college’s interim president and superintendent.

The center includes a lounge and eight computers, according to school officials.

The grand opening is set for the day before Veterans Day.
