Supervisor Gaspar strongly opposes SANDAG’s proposed regional transportation plan
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – SANDAG’s Executive Director, Hasan Ikhrata, is about to unveil his vision for the future here in San Diego with the revealing of the new regional transportation plan.
The plan addresses traffic congestion, access to community resources, and another new tax measure.
The estimated cost of Ikhrata’s proposed plan is about $117 billion dollars over the next 30 years. That cost is more than the international space station.
Supervisor Kristin Gaspar has came out strongly against this plan, and wants San Diegans to know that Ikhrata plans to tax everyone again.
Gaspar says Ikhrata wants to tax every lane as a toll lane, to make his plan work, something Gaspar is strongly against doing amid a pandemic.
Furthermore, because of the pandemic, trolley and bus ridership has been cut in half, and many people are now working from home indefinitely. Gaspar also said Ikhrata has a track record of proposing insanely expensive transportation plans, he did so in Los Angeles.
Gaspar explained why in more detail on KUSI’s Good Morning San Diego.
