Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer will bring 3-year-old to Queerfest Drag Show

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) –  The Encinitas Union School District is under fire for distributing a flyer for a controversial Halloween event through a third-party company called PeachJar, and parents are outraged.

Originally, parents believed the Boo Bash event was created and planned by the Encinitas Union School District, but they have clarified the event was not created by them. Instead, the flyer got approved to be distributed to parents through a third-party company called PeachJar.

But, parents wanted to know who was responsible for letting this get approved.

Concerned mother Carrie Prejean organized a protest to occur Wednesday evening at the Encinitas Union School District to show their opposition to the event, and the district’s mistake in distributing the flyer.

Prejean and many other parents and community activists spoke out in person, but the district has no power over cancelling the event, which is still scheduled to happen on October 29th.

Following Wednesday’s protest, Democrat County Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer, who represents the area, blasted the speakers as “bigots,” as she announced via Twitter that she is going to attend the event with her 3-year-old kid.
