Supporting Premature Infant Nutrition program at UCSD
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – For babies in the NICU, premature babies and babies with serious medical complications, breast milk can be a life saving medicine.
But those are the babies that can have the biggest challenge getting that milk.
That’s why a pediatrician at UC San Diego is focused on opening the first breast milk donor bank on the West Coast.
Dr. Lisa Stellwagen, a pediatrician at UCSD Health-Jacobs Medical Center, and Kathie Robinson, a mother of premature children, were in studio to tell us more about it.
