Surfer dies in La Jolla

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A surfer in his 50’s died in La Jolla Wednesday morning of unknown causes.

San Diego lifeguards say two surfers were paddling out from Calumet Park when one noticed the other face down and unresponsive.

The stricken surfer was pulled onto the rocks and 911 was called.

Lifeguards responded and performed CPR, but the surfer could not be revived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
