Surfer nearly drowns at Tourmaline Surfing Park

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A woman was sent to Scripps Memorial Hospital Wednesday after nearly drowning at Tourmaline Surfing Park in Pacific Beach, according to SDFD lifeguards.

Lifeguards were called just after 8 a.m. about a surfer found unconscious, face down in the inside zone of the surf.

Lifeguards said she was pulled out of the water by bystanders who then were giving her CPR on the beach when they arrived.

Once lifeguards took over the woman began breathing again.

The surfer described as being in her 30’s was then sent to Scripps Memorial Hospital.
