Suspect arrested in possible computer theft

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – An allegedly drugged man was spotted in Tierrasanta early Tuesday with a cartload of computers and various components later traced to nearby Serra High School, police reported.

Officers contacted the suspect in the vicinity of Fino Drive and Porto County shortly after 3 a.m. and saw that the computers and parts he was toting were branded with the San Diego Unified School District logo and barcodes, according to San Diego police Officer Humberto Hernandez.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance, but as of about 9:45 a.m. had not been booked into jail, according to San Diego police Officer Matt Tortorella.

The San Diego Unified Police Department has launched an investigation into the alleged burglary at Serra High School, Tortorella said.
