Traffic lanes and trolley service back in order after suspicious package secured

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – 4:58 p.m. – The object found in the intersection of First Avenue and C Street contained harmless sheets of paper, according to a fire department spokesman. 

Traffic lanes have been reopened and the trolley is back in service.

4:00 p.m. – According to a San Diego Fire Department spokesman, San Diego Police bomb-squad personnel were investigating a suspicious object in downtown San Diego at First Avenue and C Street Wednesday afternoon.

SDPD blocked off streets, suspended trolley service and evacuated many locations in the area.

The suspicious device was eventually rendered safe and all streets were reopened.
