SUV gets wedged between wall and embankment in Hillcrest

HILLCREST (CNS) – An SUV veered off state Route 163 near Hillcrest Sunday and became wedged between a wall and an embankment, but the driver was not injured.

A black Cadillac Escalade went over the railing on northbound Cabrillo Freeway near Washington Street shortly before 8:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The SUV then downed a light pole and traveled into the embankment, where it became stuck.

Several motorists stopped to assist the driver, who was not injured, according to the CHP and the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
