SWAN CANYON: Man found dead in backyard of home
(CNS) – An about 50-year-old man was found dead in the back
yard of a Swan Canyon-area home Sunday and homicide detectives were called to
investigate, a police lieutenant said.
The body was spotted face-down in the yard of a home in the 3100 block
of 44th Street near Redwood Street about 1:30 p.m., according to San Diego
police Lt. Ernie Herbert. A citizen who went to check on the man discovered he
was dead, the lieutenant said.
Herbert said patrol officers and paramedics conducting a preliminary
investigation noticed “suspicious trauma to the man's body.” He did not
elaborate.
Homicide Unit detectives were then summoned. Herbert said the cause and
manner of the unidentified man's death were not yet known and the San Diego
County Medical Examiner's Officer would perform an autopsy.
Herbert asked anyone with information related to the incident to call
the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293, or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
