SWAT stand-off ends peacefully
EL CAJON (CNS) – A roughly six-hour police standoff at an apartment home in El Cajon early Monday ended peacefully with 19 people being detained as officers searched for weapons.
Officers responded to the apartment on Cuyamaca Street, near Vernon Way around midnight, after receiving several 911 calls about gunfire in the area, according to El Cajon police.
After finding a man stabbed and beaten outside, the officers believed whoever fired the gun was inside, along with possible shooting victims, said ECPD Lt. Tim Henton.
The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to 10 News, which spoke to witnesses who said a loud noise, possibly from a party, was heard coming from the apartment prior to the gunfire.
Around 6 a.m., a flash bang was deployed and 19 people surrendered to officers. Henton said all 19 were detained but none were immediately arrested.
Officers were checking the apartment home for weapons. Shell casings were located outside the home, according to the lieutenant.
