Swedish Prime Minister says Asap Rocky will not get special treatment
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Swedish prime minister on Saturday said that rapper Asap Rocky will not receive any special treatment despite President Trump’s intervention in the case.
President Trump tweeted Friday his plan to try to get Asap Rocky released from a jail in Sweden. He is being held there on probable grounds for serious assault, according to Swedish prosecutors.
The rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was arrested after being involved in a fight in downtown Stockholm. Prosecutors say he will be held until police finish their investigation.
Many celebrities and public officials in the U.S. are calling for Asap Rocky’s release. Swedish Prime Minister Steven Lofven said that it is not his place to sway prosecutors, and that Rocky will not be getting any special treatment.
