Ramona Bulldogs 41, Sweetwater Red Devils 6
The Ramona Bulldogs played host to the Sweetwater Red Devils on this muggy Friday night.
Sweetwater was looking to get their interim head coach Wesley Charles his first victory. But this matchup was over by the end of the first quarter. Bulldog quarterback Marco Cobain was not missing a beat on this night, firing pass after pass to his wide receivers. The leading Palomar league thrower was showing why he is currently atop this list, looking flawless in the pocket. Ramona’s offense could not be stopped tonight. If it wasn’t the offense that was scoring, it was the special teams. They were able to block a punt and return it for a touchdown. Ramona tailbacks Grady Vazquez and Caleb Burman both had touchdowns on the night.
If you are a Red Devil fan this one was hard to watch, as the Bulldogs were able to amass thirty-four points by the end of the first quarter. Sweetwater had no answer for the taller wide receivers that Ramona boasted and could not get through Ramona’s offensive line to pressure Marco Cobain. Sweetwater only was able to get on the scoreboard near the end of the fourth.
Ramona picks up an easy win 41-6 over Sweetwater. The Bulldogs move on to (3-2) on the season going above .500 for the first time while the Red Devils are still looking for their first victory of the season.
PREVIEW: The Ramona Bulldogs (2-2) host Sweetwater Red Devils (0-4) this Friday night. The Bulldogs are looking to extend their winning streak to three games after losing their first two while the Red Devils are still looking for their first win of the season.
After losing four in a row Sweetwater is anxious to earn interim Head Coach Wesley Charles his first victory. They will have to start off quicker on offense unlike last week when they failed to score on their first three drives. Ramona’s running back Marty Sesma will be a focal point for the Bulldogs’ defense if they wish to pick up the win. Ramona senior quarterback Marco Cobain will be looking to continue his aerial success this week verses the Red Devils’ defense. Sweetwater’s front seven must pressure Cobain, Palomar leagues leading passer, to get this victory Friday night. Ramona’s offense has scored an average of 20+ points in these last two victories while Sweetwater just managed cracking 20+ points in last week’s loss.
Come out for this under the lights showdown this Friday night at 7:00 PM at Ramona High School and make sure to watch the highlights of this game at 10:30 PM on The Prep Pigskin Report.
