Sweetwater Valley All-Star Team Wins Little League West Region

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Bonita-based Little League team is headed to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA.

Sweetwater Valley defeated the Hawaii state champions Waipio, 12-10 , in the Little League West Region tournament's championship game Saturday.

The Sweetwater Valley team outscored their last three opponents in the West Regional 38-12, before facing Waipio again Saturday. They defeated the Hawaii state champions, 16-9, in their first meeting on Sunday, in the opening game of the tournament for both squads. They also defeated Utah state champions Snow Canyon, 11-1, Thursday in the winner's bracket final to advance to the championship game.

Waipio had outscored its last three opponents, 41-11, including a 15-0 victory over Snow Canyon, the Utah state champions, in Friday's elimination bracket final before facing Sweetwater Valley for the second time in the championship game.

The 2015 Little League Baseball World Series runs from August 20-30.
