Teenager assaulted with baseball bat in City Heights
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – A teenager was assaulted by four people wielding baseball bats in City Heights Sunday morning.
Officers were dispatched at 2:42 a.m. to the 3800 block of Central Avenue. That address is next to the 15 Freeway, one block south of University Avenue.
The attack began when an 18-year-old man was assaulted with a baseball bat by three or four suspects in the 3800 block of Central Avenue.
The 18-year-old man was chased by the suspects to a front yard, where family members were having a social gathering. They told him to hide inside their residence when the suspects entered the front yard and fired shots.
One bullet hit a 24-year-old resident of the house. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, but was not expected to survive the bullet wound in his head.
Police said the bullet that wounded the man was intended for the teenager.
“Due to the victim’s prognosis, homicide detectives were called to conduct the investigation into the incident,” An officer said. “Interviews and evidence collected are taking place in the 3800 block of Central Avenue, which will be closed for the next few hours.”
