Teenager stabbed in brawl after basketball game
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A 17-year-old girl was in trouble Thursday for allegedly stabbing a 17-year-old boy during a brawl that broke out after a high school basketball game in Lincoln Park, police said.
The brawl broke out on Willie James Jones Avenue at Imperial Avenue at about 7 p.m. Wednesday, shortly after Lincoln High played Morse High in a boy's varsity basketball game, according to San Diego police.
Several juveniles were involved, SDPD Officer David Stafford said.
During the fight, the girl stabbed the boy in the side, under his arm, Stafford said, adding that the boy was taken to a hospital but the wound was not life-threatening.
The girl was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, he said. It was not immediately clear whether she remained in custody or was released to a parent.
