SAN DIEGO: Teenager to stand trial for crime rampage

(AP) – An 18-year-old woman will stand trial for a crime rampage that
ended with a San Diego police shootout that killed her husband.

City News Service says Cindy Garcia was ordered
Wednesday to face trial for conspiracy, carjacking, arson and attempted
murder of a peace officer.

She was arrested after a Halloween shootout killed 40-year-old Philip Hernandez.

Prosecutors claim she had a gun and helped the
former firefighter during a 3-day robbery and carjacking spree during
which he shot and wounded two men and torched three cars.

Authorities say Garcia began dating Hernandez when she was 16 and he'd been charged with having sex with a minor.

Garcia's lawyer, Courtney Cutter, argued that her
client never intended to hurt anyone and simply followed orders from her
husband.
