Teens plead not guilty to defacing American flags

VISTA (CNS) – Two 18-year-olds pleaded guilty Monday to felony vandalism for defacing American flags in a senior housing neighborhood in Oceanside.

Breanna Serrato and Daniel Moran spray-painted three flags — writing “(expletive) USA” on one of them — in the 3800 block of Rosemary Way the evening of July 18. Police said a surveillance camera captured the vandalism.

Serrato and Moran were arrested last month. They are scheduled to be sentenced in December.

A third 18-year-old, Ruben Isaac Jimenez, is also charged in the case and has a preliminary hearing set for next week.
