Preview: Temecula Prep Patriots at Army-Navy Academy Warriors

The Army and Navy Academy Warriors will be kicking off their season this Friday in a non-league game against the Temecula Prep Patriots (0-1).

Army and Navy Academy is coming off of a 5-5 season and they’re looking to build on the successes they had last season to progress further in the postseason. In last year’s San Diego Section Division V playoffs, A&NA fell to Crawford High by a score of 34-16.

This year’s offensive attack will likely be led on the ground by senior running back Hadi Assi. He got off to a great start on the ground last season, as he averaged over 100 rushing yards per game in his first three games.

On the other side of the ball, defensive tackle Gilbert Oaks will be a force to be reckoned with for the Temecula Prep frontline. The 6’4″ senior will be the defensive line’s anchor this season.

The Temecula Prep Patriots are a young program looking to get their feet back under them after falling to Crean Lutheran 40-0 last week.

The Warriors offense couldn’t get into any rhythm, whether it was in the air or on the ground. There’s a lot of youth up front, and they will be depended on to give more time for the quarterback and open up some holes in the running game. Junior running back will look to build off of his three yards per carry in Week 1.

Defensively, look for senior linebacker Andre Gonzalez to be all over the field against the Warriors. Last week, he led the team with 10 total tackles.
