Tented house catches fire in La Jolla
SAN DIEGO (CNS) – Firefighters knocked down a blaze that caused about
$550,000 in damage Thursday to a La Jolla house that was tented for fumigation.
Firefighters and a hazardous materials crew were sent to the home on
Bahia Lane near Parkview Terrace about 2:40 p.m., removed the tent and knocked
down the flames shortly after 3:30 p.m, according to the San Diego Fire-Rescue
Department.
The fire was accidental, but its cause had yet to be determined, SDFRD
Spokesman Maurice Luque said.
Two firefighters who had been battling the blaze were taken to a
hospital, one who sustained a sprained thumb and another who complained of
dizziness, according to Luque.
Another firefighter fell through the floorboards, but was not injured.
The fire caused about $250,000 in damage to the structure and another
$50,000 in damage to its contents, Luque said.
