The 46th annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The Christ Church of San Diego in South Park has celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and works for 46 years.

This year represents the nation’s longest consecutive celebration of Dr. King, according to the Christ Church. Each year since 1974, the community has gathered on Dr. King’s birthday, January 15th, to unite under a common belief of Equality For All.

The church has continued the celebration under the leadership of Senior Pastor Robert Ard, who is one of the country’s longest-standing pastors at one church – 46 consecutive years at Christ Church of San Diego. His activism in the community over the past five decades has brought him previous status and fame in the community as he fought for equal rights during the Civil Rights Movement, LGBT rights, the 80’s AIDS Epidemic, and many other social causes throughout the community.

The celebration is taking place tomorrow, January 15th at noon at the Christ Church of San Diego.
