The true meaning of Memorial Day

Every day is Memorial Day for some, including the Soucy family. Joanne Rivera and Ronald Philip Soucy Jr. tell Jason Austell the story of their father becoming MIA in Vietnam when they were young.

Joanne was just 3 years old when her father became MIA in Vietnam. She is now 53 years old and has lived all of her life supporting others in her situation and trying to find out what happened to her father.

Ronald Philip Soucy Jr. was 5 when his father disappeared. He describes the experience as a sudden disappearance of his father’s aircraft, followed by a search and rescue that turned up empty.
