Thousands lose power in Pacific Beach during early morning outage

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — An early morning power outage left several thousand homes and businesses without electrical service in Pacific Beach and the Mission Bay early Friday.

The blackout, caused by an equipment malfunction shortly before 3:30 a.m., initially left about 2,400 addresses in the dark, according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

As of 9:30 a.m., roughly 1,000 customers remained without power, SDG&E spokesman Joe Britton said.

By early afternoon, repair crews had electrical service restored to all the affected areas, according to the utility company.
