Thousands reported dead following magnitude 7.8 earthquake, over 75 aftershocks in Turkey, Syria

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Over 3,000 individuals were reported dead on Feb. 6 by local sources in Syria and Turkey following a 7.8 earthquake and over 75 aftershocks, one of which was a magnitude 7.5.

Syria’s infrastructure was ill prepared for such massive tectonic movement after a decade-long civil war and refugee crisis.

Biden announced on Twitter that he wished to provide “any and all needed assistance,” to Turkey, a key U.S. NATO regional ally.
