More than 1,500 tickets for E-scooter accidents issued in 2018

SAN DIEGO (KUSI)- According to the San Diego police department, more than 1,500 citations were issued for scooter-related accidents within an 8 month period in 2018. This is a 14,000% increase than in 2017.

Police say a majority of tickets handed out were due to accidents in which the people involved were not wearing helmets.

Many doctors who treat scooter accidents are urging law makers to heavily enforce helmet laws in areas where e-scooters are often used.
