Time running out for lottery winner to claim prize
EL CAJON (CNS) – State lottery officials were counting down the final hours Monday for the holder of a $195,910 winning Mega Millions ticket bought in San Diego County to come forward.
The ticket for the Dec. 21 drawing was purchased at Lakeside Shell at 13538 Camino Canada, just east of El Cajon. It matched five of six numbers — 8, 32, 31, 11, and 12 — but missed the Mega number of 29.
The 180-day deadline expires at 5 this afternoon.
“We're just waiting here — the clock is ticking,” lottery spokesman Elias Dominguez said.
The ticket is one of five unclaimed around the state that are worth at least $150,000, he said.
He said the largest unclaimed prize in San Diego County was in 1999, when a $4 million ticket was never turned in.
Unclaimed lottery funds go to schools.
