Toddler hit by car in Normal Heights dies from injuries

SAN DIEGO (CNS) – A vehicle struck and fatally injured a toddler in Normal Heights Wednesday afternoon.

The accident in the 4400 block of Wilson Avenue was reported shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Officers performed CPR on the 16-month-old victim prior to the arrival of medics, who took the child to Rady Children's Hospital for treatment of severe injuries, SDPD spokesman Jim Johnson said. Once at the hospital the child was pronounced deceased.

There was no immediate indication that intoxication or unsafe driving played a role in the accident, police said.
