Torrey Pines 42, Westview 14

The Falcons of Torrey Pines were able to get their first win of the season tonight against their north county rival Westview Wolverines.

The Falcons rarely executing the ball more than 10 yards in their first two drives were able to score two touchdowns within the first quarter. Westview’s Sean Davis answered with an 11 yard touchdown run in the second, putting the Wolverines on the board 14-7. But the long drive by the Falcons right before the end of the first half kept the momentum going for the rest of the game. Quarterback Sandy Plashkes connected with Michael Gadinis for an 18 yard pass that lead to Quinn Morimoto’s 13 yard run. This sets up Morimoto’s third touchdown run in the first half. The Falcons took advantage of their home field and pulled away to win 42-14.

Torrey Pines, now 1-3, will go on to play at Poway next week. Westview, also 1-3, will get to go back home to take on San Marcos High School, a team Torrey Pines lost to earlier in the season.
