Traffic collision in El Cajon leaves one dead
EL CAJON (KUSI) – Wednesday 12:58 p.m.: Name of the motorist killed Tuesday has been released.
Hector Nambo was waiting in his Toyota Prius at a stoplight on the exit from eastbound Interstate 8 to West Main Street when a speeding 2004 Lexus SUV rear-ended him shortly after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol and county Medical Examiner's Office.
Nambo's car was "violently propelled" into the back of a stationary Ford Ranger pickup truck and then into a northbound BMW sedan in the intersection, CHP public-affairs Officer Kevin Pearlstein said.
Nambo died at the scene.
47-year-old San Diego woman who was driving the Lexus lost control of the vehicle after suffering some type of medical emergency, possibly a seizure, according to Pearlstein. Her SUV also hit a Honda Ridgeline and a Dodge Ram.
No other injuries were reported.
Tuesday 5:19 p.m.: One person died after a traffic collision on the EB I-8 Tuesday afternoon.
According to CHP, at least three vehicles were involved in the incident, which occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. on the exit from the I-8 to West Main Street in El Cajon.
The fatally injured victim was pronounced dead on scene. No other injuries were reported.
The wreck left several traffic lanes blocked and prompted the CHP to issue a congestion alert for the area.
