Training for Olympic dreams in Chula Vista

SAN DIEGO (KUSI) — The Olympics are about three weeks away and there’s Olympic fever in San Diego.

The Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista has dozens of athletes headed to Rio and some are still trying to qualify.

The women of the U.S. Olympic Rugby Team know that hard work and dedication pays off.

This is their first trip to the Olympics.

Also headed to Rio is the U.S. BMX Team. They train out of Chula Vista too.

Front and center on the BMX team is Elise Post.

Still a very young lady, but headed to the Olympics for the second time.

Also tucked away at the Olympic Training Center, the best archers in the world.

Lonola Pritchard made the team too, she’s an alternate and this is something she’s been dreaming about for a long, long time.

And while most people will not be able to make the trip to Rio in person, opening ceremonies will be celebrated here in San Diego.
