Tri-City Medical North County Game of the Week Preview: Mission Hills Grizzlies 24, Torrey Pines Falcons 23
It is another big Avocado League match-up as Torrey Pines (6-2, 3-1) hosts the top team in the county in Mission Hills (8-0, 4-0). In 2016 the Falcons went on the road and beat the Grizzlies at Jack Ashby Field 33-14.
Both teams come into this game on a winning streak, Torrey Pines has won four straight while Mission Hills hasn’t lost this season, in fact the closest game the Grizzlies have had was a 24-13 win on the road at La Costa Canyon.
The Falcons ground game lead by RB Sully O’Brien, Mac Bingham and QB Jason Heine average 281 yards rushing per game, and under head coach Ron Gladnick, they run the wing-T to perfection. In just eight games Bingham has found the end zone 15 times. Their game plan is to run the ball and control the clock.
What may be tough for the falcons is that Mission Hills has some beef up front. About 550 pounds of it, between defensive tackles Isaac Anderson and Shiloh Seau. The duo helped Mission Hills limit El Camino to just 46 yards rushing in their last game.
And what makes the Grizzlies the 12th ranked team in the state, is their offense, lead by Utah bound QB Jack Tuttle. The senior is in his 4th season under center, and he has plenty of players to throw to, starting with blue chip recruit Chris Olave. He is complemented by WR Maurice Jones and running backs Damon Wigand and Navy bound Sam Dixon.
Mission Hills leads the all-time series 3-1-1. Highlights from this game and 32 others will be on the Prep Pigskin report Friday night at 10:30’PM only on KUSI-TV. You can also follow us on all of our social media platforms, KUSIPPR on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
