About 62,000 Americans are still driving their cars around with deadly airbags. These are the Takata bags that exploded and sent shrapnel spewing out, killing several people. Part of the problem is that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is without a leader. President Trump’s nominee Heidi King is still waiting on Senate confirmation.
Google parent Alphabet got a big boost in earnings as advertisers keep heading to the search giant. Alphabet also got a multibillion dollar boost from its stake in the ride-sharing company, Uber. However, Google is facing increasing scrutiny about privacy and how much data they collect on everyone who uses the service.
The stock market has been quiet today as the Dow is hovering near where it has been for weeks, right around 24,500. But, it’s a huge week for tech earnings and Google has already announces its profits have soared.
