Twenty One Thousand Bucks?!
Monday, February 14, 2011 – After working for years on neighborhood preservation, a San Diego man finally got so fed up with the city that he had to call KUSI's Michael Turko. Turko says outrageous city fees for a simple neighborhood sign drove him right over the edge.
Here's a case where neighbors have been fighting for a decade to get a simple sign post put up at the entrance to their historic community. Five years ago they were promised a community development grant to do it, but the money never materialized. They got past that, and thought they could raise the money on their own. Until they found out how much they'd have to fork over to the city for permit fees. Would you believe twenty one thousand bucks! It ain't right!
