Two CHP officers injured in Riverside shootout

RIVERSIDE (KUSI) – At least two California Highway Patrol officers were shot Monday evening during a shootout between police and an armed suspect in Riverside.

The shooting happened on the 215 freeway near Box Springs Boulevard and Eastridge Avenue.

Riverside Police say a CHP officer and suspect exchanged gunfire and it’s believed the suspect was injured.

The 215 has been shut down in the area due to the shooting.
